EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP

Leading a City Government Co-Design Workshop To Inform Future City Plan: The Role of Digital Twins

๐Ÿ“… 9/12/2024

โฐ 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM

๐Ÿ“ Palmer Events Center: Room 3

The research paper is a collaboration between the University of Cincinnati's Future Mobility Design (FMD) Lab, the local non-profit entity Uptown Consortium Inc., and Cincinnati city planners, to develop a pilot Digital Twin (DT) concept of the future of a chosen intersection in Cincinnati. The new methodologies proposed intend to improve the needs, safety, experience, and overall quality of life of all residents, by creating a future-proof plan that anticipates incoming megatrends such as smart cities, vehicle autonomy and electrification, shared economy, and artificial intelligence. The DT concept was then used as a facilitation tool during a city government co-design workshop where real decision-makers gave their input on the 10-year plan for the region. The same process was repeated with local community members from multiple demographics and needs.
