Design Identity and Identity in Design

📅 9/12/2024

⏰ 10:15 - 11:00 AM

📍 Palmer Events Center: Main Hall 2

The outsider’s superpower. Your unique perspective as a marginalized designer can be your key to empathetic and impactful innovation. Harnessing this power can lead not just to aesthetic novelty but to fostering inclusivity and addressing long-standing inequalities through (and in) design.

From cultural differences and sensitivities, to existing as a physical designer in the ever-changing digital space, Industrial Designers have a distinct role in shaping the future of Experience Design as the industry moves towards augmentation and off-screen interactions, blurring the line between the physical and digital realm.

For 59 years, the Industrial Designers Society of America has worked to advance the practice of industrial design through education, information, community, and advocacy. Our roots stretch to the beginning of the profession, and our members are, and have been, some of the most celebrated industrial designers of all time. Today, we exist as a global voice for industrial design within a broad ecosystem of design disciplines and we celebrate the cross-functional overlap of many creative fields.
